There has been a lot of new construction on Ambergris Caye in the past three years. Larger worldwide hoteliers have started to partner or have taken over failed developments and are now offering their own product. This is happening on the southern tip, south of downtown, and a few miles north of town. It should be noted that 5 years back the height restriction on these complexes was three stories, but that has been changed to five. This has many people worried that San Pedro and Ambergris Caye is losing much of its small town charm. Many of these developments are geared towards investors and are to be used as vacation rentals. Along with the new construction in San Pedro and new developments comes improvements to the surrounding areas, including the beaches. This is key, particularly when you look at what the invasion of the sargassum seaweed has done to many of the beaches.
Many websites will show you floorplans with artist renditions of the resorts. We would like to show you actual photos of what the resorts look like as they are being built. This will give you an idea of how far along they might be with construction without having to be here. We can be your eyes and ears.
