                                            Happy New Year!
The year ended with some disappointing happenings, but the New Year is showing to be promising. Lots of tourists walking around town and spending money. New businesses are opening and some existing businesses are expanding.

I am hoping that you all had a wonderful comforting holiday season and wish you the best for this coming year.
                     Northbound New Bridge Nears Completion     

The new bridge is coming along on the northbound lane of the bridge. I am not sure when it is officially supposed to be finished, but it is getting pretty close. Whether the end of January is the target date or sometime in February, I expect it to be open in the next 30 days (plus or minus a few). Below I have posted some recently taken pictures.
                          Lots of New Videos to Close Out 2022
As we entered the last month of 2022, I knew that I had a number of unedited videos and well as some new footage that I wanted to shoot. I ended up posting quite a few things during the month and have left titles and links to my YouTube channel "Nate in Belize" below. I also have links on the "pic/videos" button on the left side of the website.
                                 Dance For Kindness Debuts in Belize

Back in early November, I was asked by a friend to help shoot some pictures and video of an event that was going to be held later in the month. I wasn't sure what all this would entail, but I volunteered. I went to a couple practices and learned more about this event that is done all over the world. This would be the first time that the The Dance For Kindness would be held in Belize and San Pedro would be the showcase setting.

Rosemary Smith was the group leader and organized all of the practices and communicated with global organizers to make sure things were being done the right way. Although I was not able to put this on my YouTube channel (the music is copyright protected), I am sharing a link of the final submitted video for you to watch. It was "officially" released at the end of December. If you would like to be involved in 2023, please let me know and I will put you in touch with the right people.

           New Developments Feature Conversions From Original Plans

As we start off 2023, I want to make mention of a growing trend that I am seeing, here on the island of Ambergris Caye. A couple of properties that were initially setup commercially as a resort or hotel, now have plans of selling their individual units as condominiums.

The Watermark Hotel (being developed across from Mara Laguna, north of the bridge) has announced that it will be selling their individual spaces as condominiums. There will be studio, 1-bedroom, 2-bedroom, and 3- bedroom offerings. I still need to find out more detail as the website is not yet up and I have not received and response from my email inquiry.

Costa Blu Adults-Only Beach Resort (about 6 miles north of town on the east coast), listed as a Trademark Collection by Wyndham, is now remodeling their units and selling them as condominiums. They have been associated with Wyndham since 2019, but Sandy Point is the developer of the project.

There are now at least two electric bike companies in San Pedro. Sun Cycles is located in The Commons on Coconut Drive and Breeze Bike Rentals is located on Front Street.

Sun Cycles has been open for at least a year and has other locations while Breeze Bike Rentals has just recently opened. This will certainly give tourists another option for traveling the island. While you won't be able to carry a group of people or a cooler to the beach, it will be easier to throw on a backpack and just go exploring without having to worry about getting tired of peddling. I'm pretty sure the range will get you to Secret Beach and back, but how far a fully charged battery will get you, I am not sure.
