                                          Traffic Jams at PGIA
If you are booking your flights to Belize, you will most likely be flying into Philip Goldson International Airport (PGIA). It has been mentioned, on several occasions now, that flying in on Saturdays has caused many hours of delays, due to the number of flights coming in that particular day. It would be good advice to fly in during the week or even on Friday, if your timeline is somewhat restricted. It may save you hours of standing in lines, based on recent reports. Also, be careful if you don't have much time to make a connecting flight to San Pedro (the last water taxi leaves at 5:30pm) as you may have to spend the night in Belize City. Check your carrier's website for details on departure times, but be forewarned.

                             COVID Restrictions Big Shift.....No CURFEW!
I woke up this morning to find out that the government of Belize had released a new statutory instrument the night before, SI #36!

The new statutory instrument removes the curfew! It also removes the requirement to wear masks while outside and in restaurants. In addition, there is no requirement to have Covid testing before entering the country, if you can show valid vaccination. It looks like gatherings are limited to immunized persons only, but I did not see the limit of 10 persons. It looks like the size limitation is now based on 75% of the locations capacity. A lot of this is legal wording, so rather than accidentally misinterpreting the the SI, I have posted a link below.

Although the curfew is gone, restaurant licenses still only allow them to be open to midnight, but that is everyday 7 days a week! Book those flights now for Spring Break and Easter Week!

Secret Beach Bar and Grill Opens!
The long awaited opening of the Secret Beach Bar and Grill has happened! This past Sunday, I was able to be on location with James and Tammy to see their 3+ year vision come to pass, here in Belize. Any new business owner, here on the island, knows that there is a lot of paperwork and sweat to be done when opening a business here in Belize. This, accompanied with A LOT of patience.

The day finally came on February 27, 2022 when the Grand Opening of the Secret Beach Bar and Grill occurred. Along with the opening were cash prize races and games at the site. The granddaddy was the kayak race from Hurricanes, in Boca del Rio over to Secret Beach. This is a little over 8 miles and took the winners a little over 2 hours. There was also a pool tournament (there are two tables under the palapa) and a Dominoes tournament, all with cash prizes!

As with most openings, there are still some bugs to be worked out, but there was plenty of staff on hand and space to relax. More food vendors are planned for the future with a larger selection for guests. There is an incredible sun deck that gives you a great view of the bay and a excellent view of the sunset.

I am providing a link to a video I uploaded on my YouTube channel below.

Here are the requirements:

     1. Provide proof of employment outside of Belize (income of $75,000USD/yr for an individual or                  $100,000USD/yr for a couple or family).
     2. Posses a valid passport
     3. Show proof of travel insurance ($50,000USD minimum coverage).
     4  Complete the application.
