Bananas on the Beach
When I first arrived to San Pedro, in August of 2002, I stayed at Banana Beach in the Mar de Tumbo area about 1.5 miles south of downtown. I was already investigating real estate in the area and that was one of the places that I was interested in. I was able to walk to town and start learning about this area and country that I had heard stories about. Over 20 years later and the resort is undergoing a major transformation and has now come out with pricing available for their units. Most of these units are 1 bedroom or studios and the location is right on the beach with views of the Caribbean Sea. What I also thought was nice was the fact that they have 2 pools.
Although I don't know what the rental rates are going to be, the resort always had affordable rates, which made it great for single travelers and groups, such as dive clubs. Now the resort will enjoy the benefits of the neighboring beach at Alaia and Grand Colony.

Bike Ride to Secret Beach 2023

Lobster Season Ends
For those of you coming down to enjoy the fresh seafood that the island has to offer, it awaits you. That beind said, you will have to wait until July 1st to enjoy lobster as the season ended on February 28th. This gives time for the new generations of lobsters to be produced and hatched. No lobster can be caught or served in restaurants. There are penalties for violators!

For Sale
New Northbound Bridge Opens
On February 23, 2023, Mayor Wally Nunez held a soft opening for the northbound bridge, here in San Pedro. It's nice to see the improvements! The pedestrian walkways are much wider that the original ones (even though bicycle riders continue to walk their bikes over on the roadway). Hopefully the traffic department will direct travelers to use the walkways when on foot to expedite crossings.
