CDC Drops Travel Alert Advisory for Belize to Level 2
Late in March, the center for disease control and prevention (CDC) lowered the travel alert advisory for Belize from level 4 to level 3. Within the next month (April) that number had been further reduced to 2. This makes us one of only 21 other countries in the world with a level 2 rating. With this update, there are only 4 counties at Level 1, 21 countries at Level 2, 46 countries at Level 3, and 137 countries at Level 4 (up from 34 during the previous update).
Belize Nominated in 8 Categories at World Travel Awards 2021 Coming out of a worldwide pandemic, it's good to know that a place that you have chosen to live in is still being looked at, by the world, as a place to travel. The voting for our region "Mexico and Central America" has started now and will continue until July 26th of this year. Belize has been selected in 8 of the categories! Although I am only listing a few below, that number will certainly grow with a few projects scheduled for completion this year. Take a look at some of the categories:
Mexico and Central America's Leading Destination 2021 - Belize
Mexico and Central America's Leading Island Destination 2021 - Ambergris Caye
Mexico and Central America's Leading Beach Destination 2021 - Ambergris Caye
Mexico and Central America's Leading Tourist Board 2021 - Belize Tourism Board
Mexico and Central America's Most Romantic Resort 2021 - Coco Plum Island Resort, Victoria House Resort and Spa
Take the time and vote for Belize and all the places that you love in this region and other regions of the world. The full article and categories were listed in Worldtravelawards.com's website last month. You can read the entire article and votehere.
Alaia Beach on May 01, 2021
The Deck and Beach Bar Ready for Opening

Alaia Beach View May 01, 2021
Southwest Announces Return to Central America, BUT...... Belize is not yet on the schedule. On April 30, 2021, Southwest Airlines (SWA) announced that it will resume flights to Costa Rica, starting on June 6, 2021. There are actually 2 cities in the country that SWA will fly to. There were other destinations announced, but what was missing was the country of Belize. There have been no announcements as to when flights might resume to Belize City (BZE), but there are hopes that after this, Belize will be next on the list. Particularly, since Belize has such a low risk level when it comes to travel (see article above) and the handling of the Covid pandemic.

Alaia Moves Towards May 6th Opening!
May is finally here and the long awaited opening of Alaia will soon be upon us! Many residences on the south part of town (as well as other parts) are anxious to see what the new opening will bring to the other. There are rumors of older establishments re-opening with the addition of a new tourist base here on the south end. What is clear is that there has been much beach work along the beaches to remove the recent wave of sargassum to the area.
The opening will initially include new owners of the units as well as new guests that are using Marriott's reservation system. The Reef House (formerly Banyan Bay Suites) already has existing bookings as can be seen when you walk by beachside. The Deck (formerly Pier 366) is also now open and the beach bar will be adding service this week.
There are still units for purchase in Alaia as well as their sister property, The Reef House (formerly Banyan Bay Suites), but I have recently been told that Alaia is now 80% SOLD OUT! I was able to assist one of my Buyer's in acquiring a unit at The Reef House. For more information on availability, feel free to reach out on our CONTACT page or send an email.
Alaia Announces "Adults Only" Beach Club Residences
I had been privy to some information about Alaia's plan to expand, but was waiting for more details before spreading any rumors. Well, on May 2, 2021 an email was sent out to targeted prospects (I believe this includes VIPs and those that have purchased in the new development) to announce this new development and gather an interest list (reservations) for the new community.
The Alaia Beach Club Residences is the official name and it is located just north of The Reef House (formerly Banyan Bay Suites), just behind the sailing center. The property is an oceanfront site and will feature 124 expanded Studio Condominiums. It will also feature a new Beach Club, Resort Pool, and Bar. These residences will also be a part of the Marriott Autograph Collection. Beach Club owners also have access to all of the amenities of Alaia.
Pricing is starting in the low $200,000USD range. A "reservation" must be made to participate in the initial release.
