The annular solar eclipse was visible in Belize this year. I viewed the event on Ambergris Caye at the famed sunning area of Secret Beach. There were gatherings on and off (by boat) the island. Maximum coverage was around 11:30am, but the gatherings began before and continued after the event. Most venues seemed to have brought in view glasses to protect your eyes, although in limited quantities. I captured my adventure in a video that I have posted on my Youtube channel "Nate in Belize". I am providing a link below. I am also providing an additional link of another video associated with the ride out to Secret Beach.
New Gas Station Opens The new San Pedro gas station has opened just north of the bridge, across from Sagebrush Church. For locals, it is at the entrance of the San Mateo area of town. This is a welcomed addition to the two existing land stations in town. This will certainly help those people staying and traveling north of the bridge and hopefully alleviate traffic near the existing stations in town.
I have heard rumors of another gas station being built on the way to Secret Beach, but I have not verified that information.
SAGA "Spooktacular" Fun For the Humans On Sunday, October 29th, SAGA Humane Society hosted its 18th annual pet costume contest at Caribbean Villas on the beach at the Beach Bar. It was a great event that raised some money for the abandoned animals on the island. The contest had many categories and I have posted pictures of a couple of the winners. I think the humans of the contest enjoyed it just as much, if not more, than their pets.
The Christmas Parade is Almost Here! On December 17, 2023, the LoveFM San Pedro Christmas Parade will be held and this year, Keller Williams Belize will be represented with decorated golf carts, candy, and Christmas cheer. Chetamul Water Taxi Just a reminder that you can take a water taxi to and from Mexico directly to San Pedro, Belize. I have been reminded by ads that I have been seeing lately. During the COVID19 crisis, these routes were suspended, but they all seem to be fully operational now. These boats also continue on to Caye Caulker so your travel from Cancun or any other part of Mexico might be simpler to use one of these services out of Chetamul. Belize Express and Water Jets are the two listed here, but I may be missing one more. You can go online and get more information from both companies.
