September Was a Month to Remember It had been 3 years since Belize had been able to celebrate without the restraints of the global pandemic. Many were anticipating what the month of celebrations might bring and there was no disappointment. There were many events and celebrations and I did not attend many of them, but those that I did were amazing and gave me lots of joy celebrating the event as well as the freedom to celebrate!
I tried to capture some of the action in videos, but there were other times that I just wanted to be in the moment. Below are links to the footage that I put together of the celebrations.
No Shoes, No Service (Barefoot Iguana retraction)
I wrote an article a couple of months ago about the expected re-opening of Barefoot Iguana on Coconut Dr. After what seemed to be a work stoppage, I started to ask questions and found out that the story circulating around town and online publications was incorrect. In fact, apparently, it was a bit of a real estate leasing scam in which someone was claiming to be the owner of the property and was going to illegally lease it out to another party to reopen the club. From my understanding, the real owner of the property found out and put a stop to the work. I have since heard that other parties are also interested in buying the property, but from what I have heard, the owner has not received an offer that is acceptable. If I here anything else, I will let you know.....
Aeromar Begins Flights Between Merida, Chetumal, and Cozumel Aeromar is a budget-friendly Mexican airline founded in 1987, which currently operates a number of domestic flights throughout Mexico, as well as international flights to the US, Guatemala, Honduras, and Cuba. This announcement is good news for a lot of people in Belize as many seek medical procedures and advice in Merida, Mexico. The lower cost saves time on driving or taking a bus from Chetamul to any of their destinations.

Halloween on the Island As with many events, Halloween parties will be returning to the island of Ambergris Caye, in particular, San Pedro. The Holiday Hotel has announced that they will again be hosting what is believed to be the largest party of the month. In addition, other restaurant/bars, such as Wayos will also be hosting Halloween parties.
