                          Summer Ends with September Celebrations

If you have been to Belize, you know that September is one of the busiest month's, when it comes to celebrations. I made it out to a few of the events, but fewer than I thought I would be attending at the beginning of the month. Things have quieted down a bit, now that October is here, but I am sure they will be picking up towards the end of the month's big holiday.

I made a couple of videos, in case you missed the celebrations. Hopefully, the weather will be uneventful this month and we can move on towards the beginning of high season without much stress. We certainly have been having more thunder and lightening this year, but most of the days continue to be warm and sunny.
Ambergris Caye and Caye Caulker Rank #2 and #3 in Choice Awards
Condé Nast annual Travelers Choice Awards for 2023, put Belize back in the spotlight with two of the 5 Favorite Islands in Mexico, Central and South America. Ambergris Caye ranked #2 and neighboring island, Caye Caulker, came in at #3. I have noticed increased traffic to Caye Caulker from the water taxi this summer. On the trips that I took, more tourists were off-loading there than in San Pedro. What probably makes up the difference is the flight traffic to the largest island in the country, Ambergris Caye. The Galapagos Islands in Ecuador came in at #1.

It should be noted that Ambergris Caye also became a WBA Hall of Fame honoree, having been voted onto a specific World's Best Awards list for the past 10 years (consecutive).

                                      Nate in Belize Facebook Page
I have been needing to create a new Facebook page for my business in Belize for some time. Well, now I have accomplished that. It was actually quite easy. I just need to add content and redirect people from my personal page.I will be able to add quick links that I come across that have to do with things in Belize. I will be placing  links to my newsletters as well as my YouTube videos.

                                   Halloween is Around the Corner
October is here and Halloween celebrations are being announced. While I'm sure there will be many more announced, I just wanted to post a couple of events that have popped up on ReefTV so far. To get updates, you can go to my new Facebook page.
                                   A Reminder About Hand Signals
Tourists that come to San Pedro are thrilled to get a chance to finally drive a golf cart. I myself had never driven one until months after I arrived here to live. That being said, it can be very dangerous, which is why you at least need a valid drivers license. Along those same lines, people need to understand what direction you are going. Since most of these carts don't have turn signals, it is imperative that you use hand signals to let others know, including pedestrians and bicycles, where you are going. Locals are also guilty of now using signals to let others know where you are going. I am providing a recently posted guide to using hand signals for everyone's safety.

                                          Street Paving Continues
There has been a lot of road construction around San Pedro in 2023. I must hand it to Mayor Wally Nunez as these roads (and new bridge) are much needed for San Pedro's infrastructure. I recently was back on Marina Drive, after a short rain shower, and boy could you see and feel the difference. Many of these roads are away from the mostly traveled tourist routes, but San Pedranos are definitely seeing the difference.
I am went back a made a video of some of the improvements so that you can see for yourself. These road are a huge improvement to here in San Pedro.
Road Improvements in San Pedro
San Pedro's Alaia Ranks #5 in Condé Nast's Central American Resorts
On October 3, 2023, Condé Nast Traveler, a luxury and lifestyle magazine, published its 2023 Reader's Choice Awards. In the area of Top 20 Resorts in Central America, the country of Belize has 9 of the top 20 resorts, with Alaia, here in San Pedro, ranking highest at number 5. Hamanasi Adventure and Dive Resort, in Hpokins Village, came in at number 6 and Victoria House, also in San Pedro, came in at number 9. I remember having a subscription, at one point, back when I lived in the US and it does influence where people travel. Costa Rica also has 9 of the top 20 including the #1 spot, Hacienda AltaGracia. Nicaragua and Panama have 1 each in the top 20.
