Belize Celebrates 40 Years of Independence!
As we near September 21, 2021 we can reflect on how far Belize has come as a country. While there is always room for improvement, this small country has had its challengers. Particularly in the last year and a half, battling this global pandemic.
There will be no big parties this year or parades, but it is good to know that with all of the negative influences that the world has brought us, we still thrive! So here's to 40 years!

Travel + Leisure Awards Caye Caulker and Ambergris Caye 2 and 3 in Top 5 Islands
On September 8, 2021, Travel + Leisure gave it's "Worlds Best" ranking in the category of "The Islands of Mexico and Central and South America". Caye Caulker and Ambergris Caye came in at #2 and #3 respectively! It is a great honor for the country of Belize as well for us here on Ambergris Caye and our neighbors to the south, Caye Caulker. Any travel awards and acknowledgments will help a much needed tourist industry as people begin to travel. Although we are not seeing much of that yet, we are hoping that things will begin to pick up as we enter the holiday season in late November.

The Top 10 Resort Hotels in Central America in 2020
In addition to the awards in the previous article, Travel + Leisure also had a category for the Top 10 Resort Hotels in Central America. Costa Rica took in half of the top 10 spots, but Belize cam in 2nd. It seems that this year, the rain forest properties were the preferred destination for travelers. It's good to know that tourist do appreciate many parts of the country, particularly since so much of the economy depends on tourism.
